Mickey & Friends appear as Avengers & X-Men on What If? variant covers
Following this year’s Disney100 variant covers, Marvel will celebrate the 60th anniversary of two iconic superhero teams – the Avengers and the X-Men – with What If? variant covers in 2024.
The 12 new variant covers (available in color and black and white) will appear monthly on select issues of Amazing Spider-Man, with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and others taking over milestone moments in Avengers and X-Men history.
The first three What If? variant covers feature a twist on the Avengers and X-Men’s first appearances in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s original Avengers #1 and X-Men #1 from 1963 – both featuring Peg Leg Pete as the groups’ archenemies, Loki and Magneto.
Next, Mickey and friends will assemble for Avengers #16, which saw Captain America lead a brand-new roster with recruits including Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
