‘Mickey’s Storybook Adventure’ stage show debuting June 15 at Shanghai Disneyland

Shanghai Disney Resort has announced that a brand-new live stage show, titled “Mickey’s Storybook Adventure,” will debut at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre on June 15.

Featuring one of the largest number of on-stage performers of any indoor show at Shanghai Disneyland and utilizing state-of-the-art technologies alongside Disney storytelling, “Mickey’s Storybook Adventure” will immerse audiences in the emotion and fun of Disney stories and characters with a combination of music, live performances, animation, and transformative scenery.

“Since we first opened our doors to the public on June 16, 2016, we have constantly strived to expand and enhance our guest offerings, ensuring that there is always something new to experience with each visit to Shanghai Disneyland,” said Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. “With today’s announcement, we are thrilled to introduce one of our most exciting in-park entertainment offerings to date, featuring some of our most beloved stories brought to life in a magical new way.”

The show boasts a cast of 23 live vocalists, characters, dancers and musicians who perform ten Disney songs set against a backdrop of beautiful set designs and projected backgrounds — all combined into a 28-minute performance that will transport guests into a world of adventure.

“Mickey’s Storybook Adventure” focuses on Mickey Mouse and Goofy, who face a unique problem when Mickey accidentally dislodges Olaf from “Frozen” from within a storybook. As the trio sets off on an adventure to return the snowman to his section of the book, they encounter characters from other Disney films, including “The Jungle Book,” Moana, “Mulan,” “Rapunzel,” “Zootopia,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Frozen” and more.

The show will premiere at a special anniversary celebration event on June 15 for invited guests, followed by a celebration ceremony on the park’s castle stage. On June 16, Shanghai Disney Resort will celebrate its 5th anniversary and officially open the in-park entrance to The Walt Disney Grand Theatre, allowing park guests to experience the show.
