From July 2-5, Kennywood amusement park, Sandcastle water park, and the Idlewild & SoakZone children’s parks will extend their hours and provide even more family-friendly entertainment as a “Thank you” to active duty and retired military members and veterans, for their honorable service to the country.

“As we approach the July 4 holiday, honoring our military members is one of the most important things we can do,” said Mark Pauls, Kennywood/Sandcastle general manager. “We’re proud to offer military members and their families a chance to come to our parks and enjoy a day of family fun!”

Kennywood’s “Celebrate America” event brings back the popular Wiener 100 dachshund races, with a running at 2 p.m. on July 3, while musical performances throughout the extended 4th of July weekend will pay rousing tribute to the United States’ independence. Visitors can enjoy the park’s attractions, including the Steel Curtain roller coaster and classic Jack Rabbit coaster, for an extra hour each night from July 4-8, with a closing time of 8 p.m.

  1. My husband is a veteran, however he misplaced his military ID but he has his DD214 papers can our family still get free admission. Please let us know. Thank you

  2. Can the prices get any higher. Seriously this is upsetting. Think of the poor family’s that would love to come to these kind of parks. How would you feel if you could never do family parks like this because you have no money because you had to pay bills and feed ur family. LOWER YOUR PRICES SO PEOPLE CAN AFFORD TO GO TO PARKS LIKE THIS.

  3. How to I get tickets? I have an ID card – ex Navy. This is the info from the article:

    1. Hi Beverly. Kennywood’s normal ticket price is $69 per person. Their July 4th promotion for military members includes free admission for the military member (honorably discharged, with valid ID) and $20 for each additional ticket purchased for the military member’s friends or family. The $20 tickets are part of a promotion. Is it possible the tickets you purchased last year were also part of a military member promotion?
