“Race Against the Sun” details two modern competitions – Marathon des Sables (Marathon of the Sands) and Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc (Rally of the Gazelles) – along with the history of the ancient inhabitants of the Sahara, the Berbers.

The exhibit includes immersive experiences, like a lifelike diorama of Marathon of the Sands complete with race gear and trophies from Moroccan competitors, and an interactive photo-op highlighting the all-woman, off-road desert rally, Rally of the Gazelles. Guests will also learn more about the Berbers, and how they mastered living in the Sahara.

To celebrate the opening of this new exhibit, guests can try “sellou” at Tangerine Café in the Morocco pavilion – a food that marathon participants often eat during their race. The snack includes ingredients like almonds and sesame seeds to give runners that extra boost.

You can check out this new exhibit now at Epcot’s World Showcase! To learn more about other Epcot offerings, visit DisneyWorld.com.
