The sequel film starts out where the first one ends; We see Max and his best friend Duke taking on life in the Big Apple, with one passenger, extra small. Max’s owner Katie has now met a boy and they’re ready to start a family. At the beginning, we see Max claim that he “will never love children.” News flash: that changes pretty fast.

Within the first ten minutes, you are pulled into a heartwarming and family-oriented movie. You see a bond grow between a dog and a child and it definitely makes your heart melt.

With the first film, we saw all the pets centered around one story. This time around, there are multiple plotlines to keep up with. We follow Gidget as she tries to make sure Max, her love interest, does not lose his special Busy Bee toy. We then jump into an action-packed adventure with Snowball and his new sidekick, Daisy… and there might also be a tiger and an evil circus owner involved.

Max is introduced to a farm dog named Rooster, who brings out Max’s wild side. From saving a sheep to fighting foxes, this movie has you on the edge of your seat and puts a new face to a family film. If you’re looking for a movie that audiences young and old can enjoy, this is it!

Make sure you stay for the credits because they show home videos packed with love from Man’s Best Friend. As for any after credits scenes? “The Secret Life of Pets 2” has a hilarious post-credits scene you won’t want to miss.
