For 20 years, Walt Disney World has cooked up special gingerbread displays for a few of its resorts – and for 2019, a new one has risen.
In the lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, guests can now see a gingerbread cabin on display, featuring Humphrey the Bear working to put Christmas lights up.
Next to the cabin is a sign detailing the story of the cabin and all of the ingredients that went into creating it.
The backside of the cabin features gingerbread versions of Chip and Dale enjoying a small pinecone fire.
Be sure to keep an eye out for five Hidden Mickeys placed all around the gingerbread cabin.
In addition to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, gingerbread displays have returned to four other Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
Cinderella Castle is re-created on the fourth floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort with an “it’s a small world” backdrop depicting Cinderella and Prince Charming greeting guests in the castle forecourt. The 18-foot display is crafted from thousands of gingerbread blocks, 80 pounds of rolled fondant and 155 pounds of modeling chocolate.
The gingerbread house in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is 15 feet tall and home to The Bake Shop, the perfect place to pick up holiday treats, such as house-made gingerbread ornaments and caramel pecan fudge. Over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread are used to bring the house to life.
A gingerbread version of the boardwalk of Disney’s BoardWalk Resort features iconic locales such as BoardWalk Bakery, Flying Fish, Trattoria al Forno and more.
A life-size and edible spinning carousel with Peter Pan themed horses is on display in the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club Resort. The carousel is decorated with 50 pounds of dark chocolate, 100 pounds of confectioners’ sugar and 100 pounds of icing.
In addition to these Walt Disney World Resort hotels, gingerbread displays can also be found in The American Adventure at Epcot, The Haunted Mansion and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort, Aulani – A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawai’i and aboard the four Disney Cruise Line ships.
