New ice cream shop replaces Ample Hills at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

by Samantha Davis-Friedman

A “cool” new ice cream parlor has replaced the Ample Hills Creamery on BoardWalk Inn’s retro Coney Island-style boardwalk at Walt Disney World.

BoardWalk Ice Cream

The new quick-service BoardWalk Ice Cream serves to-go ice cream and sundaes inspired by the sweet treats at the popular Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, including the Shore-Side Sundae (three scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, marshmallow, Snickers bar pieces, whipped cream, chopped peanuts, and a cherry); Bay-Side Brownie a la Mode (a brownie topped with hot fudge, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles, and a cherry); and the Strawberry Splash Shortcake (vanilla cake topped with strawberry compote, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream).

For kids, the Mickey Mouse Sundae is made with one scoop of ice cream with chocolate cookies and a cherry. Traditional two-scoop or three-scoop ice cream sundaes can be ordered with the choice of one sauce — marshmallow, strawberry, pineapple, peanut butter, hot fudge, caramel, or chocolate syrup — and topped with whipped cream, toasted almonds, and a cherry.

The shop also serves ice cream by the scoop with flavors from chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla to cookies ‘n cream, butter pecan, and mint chocolate chip. Guests can also opt for fat-free chocolate or vanilla or sugar-free chocolate-vanilla swirl.

BoardWalk Ice Cream is open 3-10 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and noon – 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The shop is currently closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
