New ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ trailer shows off improved look for iconic character

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for “Sonic The Hedgehog,” showing off Sonic’s new and improved look.

Based on the iconic video game franchise from Sega, “Sonic The Hedgehog” tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he learns to live on Earth. Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) will have to team up to defend the planet from the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination.

The film is directed by Jeff Fowler (animator on 2009’s “Where the Wild Things Are,” director of 2004 short film “Gopher Broke”).

This new trailer comes just seven months after the original trailer’s debut, in which Sonic was featured as a more hyper-realistic example of nightmare fuel. Paramount responded to the online backlash against the character design in an unprecedented way by taking the film back to the drawing board so animators could get Sonic right.

The film was originally supposed to release in theaters on Nov. 15, but due to the animation updates, it has been pushed back to Feb. 14, 2020. Check out the new trailer below:
