Nickelodeon Universe celebrates 15 years at Mall of America

Fifteen years ago, Mall of America and Nickelodeon teamed up to create the first-ever Nickelodeon Universe indoor theme park, which opened on March 15, 2008. Since then, millions of guests have enjoyed the seven-acre park’s 27 rides, attractions, and character favorites, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Fairly OddParents, and PAW Patrol,

Offering countless interactive experiences and larger-than-life events at Nickelodeon Universe over the years has been a fun ride and we can’t wait to continue creating even more memories for fans of all ages.”

In honor of the occasion, Mall of America will host Nickelodeon-themed events throughout the year. The Nickelodeon fun starts with the park’s birthday week.

Kids’ Choice Awards Party

In preparation for the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, Mall of America says they will roll out the orange carpet from 3-5 p.m.for a pre-party before the awards show on March 4, 2023. Mall of America also says guests are encouraged to stop by the Huntington Bank Rotunda area for free specialty slime tattoos, characters, crazy hair stations, a “Do-It-Yourself” slime station, and party swag bags. The mall will show the Kids’ Choice Awards on the big screen at 6 p.m.

Toddler Tuesdays LIVE

On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 10 a.m. to noon, families are invited for a special Nickelodeon-themed “Toddler Tuesday” celebration with character meet and greets, balloon artists, exciting giveaways, and treats. This event is free and open to the public in the Huntington Bank Rotunda area.

SpongeBob SquarePants Storyboard Artists

SpongeBob SquarePants animators will be at Mall of America and Nickelodeon Universe, showing off their skills on March 15, 2023, in celebration of their 15th birthday. The artists will stream their drawings on the video screen in the Huntington Bank Rotunda. Nickelodeon fans can also experience the storyboard artists on March 16 and 17, 2023, in the theme park for unique character drawings throughout the day.

Nickelodeon Universe 15th Birthday Celebration

The milestone birthday event concludes on March 18, 2023, with exciting events and activities in the Huntington Bank Rotunda and Nickelodeon Universe. In addition to the Nickelodeon fun, Koo Koo Kanga Roo and School of Rock will perform. And of course, the birthday party will have live sliming on stage, characters, and treats.
