Norwegian Prima cruise ship launches with fun, firsts, and great food

Norwegian Prima is the first of six ships in the brand’s Prima Class. At 965 feet (294 meters) long and more than 143,535 tons, with capacity for 3,100 guests at double occupancy, the ship was built to elevate the guest experience and propel the brand forward with upgraded designs and offerings.
Prima Firsts
- Prima Speedway is the world’s only and largest three-level go-kart race track at sea.
- NCL’s first upscale Food Hall, Indulge.
- The Metropolitan Bar, the cruise industry’s first sustainable cocktail bar featuring responsibly crafted zero-waste cocktails prepared with surplus ingredients.
- The Drop, the first dry drop slide in the world, not just at sea, and the first ship to feature three dry slides. All three slides are also said to be the fastest at sea.
- The Galaxy Pavilion is a high-tech VR game room which features the only “flying theater” at sea.
- Norwegian Prima offers the highest staffing levels and space ratio of any contemporary or premium cruise ship.
- Prima boasts the largest variety of suite categories available at sea as well as a redefined The Haven by Norwegian, NCL’s ultra-premium keycard-only access ship-within-a-ship concept, featuring the first NCL ship with exclusive elevators for Haven guests.
- The only Topgolf Swing Suite at sea.
Innovative spaces include Ocean Boulevard, the 44,000-square-foot outdoor walkway, which wraps around the entire ship; The Concourse, which boasts a multi-million-dollar outdoor sculpture garden; and expansive pool decks and infinity-style pools at Infinity Beach.
Norwegian Cruise Line is known for its Broadway-caliber entertainment, and premiered Tony Award-nominated musical “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical” on Norwegian Prima. The headlining act is an 85-minute immersive production and a first-at-sea experience where the theater itself transforms into a full disco and guests can become a part of the show and dance to Summer’s all-time fan favorite medleys. Further entertainment highlights on board include “Noise Boys,” an award-winning beat boxing experience produced by Nic Doodson, creator of “The Choir of Man.”
Other Experiences and Offerings
- Interactive “Live on NCL” game show experiences such as “The Price is Right LIVE on NCL.”
- The Bull’s Eye, an elevated twist on darts, featuring a video tracking system that automatically calculates each guest’s score and offers instant replays.
- Tee Time, a supercharged version of mini golf, with nine interactive holes set against a Vegas-style backdrop with a chance to win prizes.
- Vibe Beach Club, NCL’s adults-only area that features a dedicated bar and two infinity hot tubs.
- Syd Norman’s Pour House, the onboard classic rock club, complete with a house band playing all the greatest hits.
- The Improv at Sea comedy club, where guests can see standup performances against an intellectual tongue-in-cheek “Science of Comedy” theme.

Not only is the Prima NCL’s brand-new ship, but Norwegian also has a brand-new terminal at Port Miami (photos below). It’s the first cruise terminal in the world to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold New Construction v4.0 certification.
