Photo Finds: Many things in the works at the Magic Kingdom

I spend a couple of hours at the Magic Kingdom today and noticed a lot of things are changing, some sooner than others. Let’s take a look.

There’s a new sign up in front of Exposition Hall. I guess I should start calling it Town Square Theater. This is where you’ll be able to get a FastPass to meet Mickey Mouse when he moves in later this spring, as we previously reported.

This merchandise cart sits outside the Haunted Mansion. I arrived just before it opened. The door that proclaims Madame Leota as an astrologist can’t be seen when the cart is open.

The new interactive queue area at the Haunted Mansion looks like it should open soon. As you can see here, there’s a new fence in the queue. It seems once it’s open, the plants will be gone and you can go down the left side of the fence to enter the interactive queue.

Here’s a closer look at the fence.

Here’s a peek into the new queue area. Looks like a couple of busts may still need to be added.

On the hill are quite a few tombstones with only names on them. I’m guessing they will play a part in some sort of game.

Among the many tombstones is this epitaph featuring musical instruments. I believe once it’s open, you’ll be able to touch the designs and hear the instrument play. Hopefully we’ll know for sure in the next few days. Keep checking our website for a full report once the interactive queue opens.

Around the corner in Fantasyland is the old skyway building that has sat unused for many years. Rumors say it will be torn down soon to make way for restrooms and that the restrooms near the Peter Pan ride will close down. Could an interactive queue also be coming to Peter Pan?

A look at some of the construction that can be seen above the walls in Fantasyland. We hope to bring you a more in depth Fantasyland construction update next week.

I was able to get this photo of the construction going on in the former Toontown area from the TTA PeopleMover. After some demolition, all that’s left in Toontown are the tents and Goofy’s Barnstormer.

While going through Space Mountain on the PeopleMover, the lights were on. They weren’t on in the ride area, but just along the TTA track.

Work is being done on the bridge and entryway to Adventureland. I believe they’re flattening the bridge and rebuilding the entryway.

There’s a new name for the restaurant across from Pirates of the Caribbean. The quick service restaurant was called El Pirata Y El Perico. Now it’s the easier to pronounce Tortuga Tavern.

Here’s a look at the menu at the Tortuga Tavern.

We’ll end this update with a look at some cowboy musicians in Frontierland.

  1. Was there alot of people in the park when you went. I plan on going next week with my family to magic kingdom.

  2. wow, the fence at the haunted mansion must have gone in last night; I was there before it closed last night, and the wooden scrim was still up. And looking through holes, it still shows a lot of construction; not sure how much it’s ready. I’m still laughing at the construction team that laughed at my attempts to take photos.

I didn’t notice the tavern, but there were some new additions in casey’s corner.

Yesterday, taking the train around the kingdom, the Barn from Goofy’s barnstormer appeared to have moved; any news on that?

I believe somethings been worked on in TTA; occasionally when I’ve been through, the lights are on. When I was there after hours last week, they immediately had them up and were doing something.
