The latest step in the transformation of Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World — a revamped lobby — has been unveiled ahead of the resort’s 50th anniversary.
The renovation of the lobby brings new and more modern amenities to the space, as well as new seating and a theme inspired by the history of the resort hotel and the influence of artist, animator and designer Mary Blair, best known for her work on “it’s a small world.” References and homages to her work can be found throughout the reimagined lobby.
This lobby update also brought a brand-new glimpse of the upcoming restaurant, Steakhouse 71, which is set to officially open on Oct. 1, the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.
Work continues on the refurbishment of guest rooms in the main tower of the resort, with new motifs inspired by Disney and Pixar’s “The Incredibles” spotted in the hallways, as shown in the photos above. No set date for the completion of these updates has been shared, but work forges ahead!
