New Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party costumes rumored for 2026
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party could have a new look when it returns to Magic Kingdom on Nov. 8, 2026. Speculation about a possible costume redesign follows Disney’s changes to the cast member uniforms for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party earlier this year.
Rumors of another costume change have surfaced just days before the first Christmas party. The speculation concerns uniforms worn by Disney cast members working the event, not the holiday outfits worn by Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is one of the biggest highlights of the holiday season at Walt Disney World.
Halloween costume redesign sparked mixed reactions
Disney introduced new cast member costumes for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in August 2026, replacing the colorful uniforms associated with the event for years.
The redesigned outfits featured dark, short-sleeved shirts decorated with multicolored skeleton figures, white collars and cuffs, and dark green trousers or shorts. Some cast members also wore purple bat-shaped hair accessories.

The previous costumes had a more theatrical appearance, with bright colors, contrasting patterns and multiple costume pieces.
The change prompted criticism from Disney fans who preferred the older designs and felt the simplified uniforms lacked the personality of the Halloween celebration.

Could simpler costumes benefit Disney cast members?
Elaborate costumes contribute to the atmosphere of Disney’s holiday parties, but cast members also spend hours outdoors greeting guests, managing crowds and performing other duties.
Lighter fabrics, fewer layers and simpler designs could improve comfort and mobility during Florida’s warm Halloween season. Christmas presents different challenges, with temperatures that can swing from chilly evenings to unusually warm nights.

No verified images of a potential redesign have surfaced. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party begins Nov. 8 at Magic Kingdom, with holiday entertainment, character appearances, seasonal treats and other festivities on select nights through December.
Most of the event’s 25 scheduled nights are sold out, as of our last check on Nov. 4.
Opening night will most likely reveal whether the rumored costume changes become reality.
