Howl-O-Scream, the annual Halloween festival of fear at SeaWorld San Diego, has added even more frights to its 2022 lineup, with two new haunted houses, an additional scare zone, new scAREAs, a macabre show, and themed bars.
On select nights from September 16-October 31, 2022, terror takes over the park during this separately-ticketed event, and this year it will feature two all-new haunted houses, bringing the total up to five.
Howl-O-Scream Haunted Houses
Circus of the Damned – New in 2022, the glory of the “greatest circus in the world” hasn’t just dimmed under the curse of its evil ringmaster, its performers are all but dead. Enter it and become one of cursed crew, or find a way out.
Area 64: Alien Outbreak – Also new for 2022 is this chance to sneak through the fencing surrounding an abandoned government installation. Be prepared to fend off lethal security, mad scientists, and…of course…the uncontained horror of extraterrestrials on the loose.
Returning this year are past houses, Nightmare Experiment and its deadly doctor; knife-wielding Simon the Butcher in Simon’s Slaughterhouse; and the unrelenting spirits who accompany the Swamp Witch in the hellish depths of Death Water Bayou.
Clown Gauntlet – Clowns are evil, and this new scare zone filled with the chainsaw-wielding variety proves it.
Sea of Souls – A watery grave awaits those who fail to escape the sirens’ lure.
Deadly Toys zone, filled with the creepiest dolls imaginable returns this year, as do the evil undead in the Graveyard, the wails of a murderous mother in La Llorona zone, and whatever those heinous shadows are that lurk in the forest of The Hauntings.
Carnival of Chaos – Remember how evil clowns are? Their disgruntled carnie counterparts are no better in this midway of mayhem.
Vampire Underground – This nightclub insists vampires and humans can mingle while single, but this burlesque performance may very well be the last “date” you ever have.
Howl-O-Scream themed bars
Take the edge off your fears or just toast the terror at three new bars, Toys N’ Tonic, Blood Moon Bar, and Big Trop Drinks. The house-inspired themes continue with returning bars, Simon’s Screamtorium, AmBARlance, and the Howl-O-Scream Bar. Each is located outside its corresponding haunted house.
Darkness Falls – And when it does, performers and percussionists will lure the unsuspecting into their lair in a heart-pounding battle between good and evil. Who will win? Our money’s on “evil.”
Single-night tickets for Howl-O-Scream are on a limited-time special offer starting at $39.99, for a savings of 50 percent.
Howl-O-Scream is recommended for mature audiences only.
Kid-friendly SeaWorld Spooktacular takes place during the day, each Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 17-Oct. 31, and is included with park admission.
