See them Roar and Soar this weekend at Fantasy of Flight

The second annual gathering of classic racing machines is this weekend (Nov. 8 and 9) at Fantasy of Flight. Thrills from land, sea and air combine with food, entertainment and a great aviation show.

Drivers will compete for the fastest time while they race the clock maneuvering through a slalom course on the hangar tarmac. This sanctioned race offers prime spectator viewing and comes to Roar ‘n Soar courtesy of The Jaguar Club of Florida and Sun Coast Jaguar Clubs. Plus, the Car Corral features vintage classic cars by auto icons Jaguar, Austin-Healey, Ferrari, BMW, and Porsche.

Courtesy of the Classic Race Boat Association, some of the most elegant and powerful boats ever built will perform exhibition flybys in a race-like setting on a one-and-a-half-mile oval course on Lake Agnes. A host of vintage watercraft will also be on display along with the opportunity to meet the drivers and take photographs.

The Orlando Culvert Dodgers will be running gasoline and nitro methane powered radio-control model boats in a race-like, oval course on Lake Agnes. In addition to racing, the there will be many types of radio control model boats on display to view, take photographs and opportunities to learn more about this hobby. Club members will be on hand, many of whom are district and national champions, to answer your questions. In addition, their will be r/c manufacturers and distributors on site, too. Special aerobatic shows featuring the finest giant scale model replica aircraft in the world, will take place throughout each day.

Colorful canopies will fill the sky when our team of powered paragliders take to the air. Even though the paragliders are small the spectacle they put on is impressive. They are the world’s smallest, most personal aircraft. The pilots who fly these “pocket planes” wear the small two-stroke motor on their back and a parachute-like wing over their head.

Kids will be ready to try their hand at flying their own hot air balloon and hang glider simulators in Fantasy of Flight’s “Fun with Flight Center.” Prizes will be awarded to kids landing their balloon or glider closest to the target.
