Sesame Place San Diego welcomes Tango
Sesame Place San Diego introduced Elmo’s rescue dog Tango as a new walkaround character with a welcoming ceremony today, Feb. 4, 2023.
Named after her love of music and dancing, Tango debuted in the 2021 animated special “Furry Friends Forever: Elmo Gets a Puppy,” in which Elmo finds a stray Tango and adopts her. Tango then joined Sesame Street’s 52nd season in animated and live-action formats.
The brand-new floppy-eared, tail-wagging puppy debuts today as an all-new meet & greet character at the first theme park on the West Coast based entirely on Sesame Street. Tango’s arrival at Sesame Place San Diego will be celebrated every Saturday and Sunday in February, plus Friday, Feb. 17, and Monday, Feb. 20, 2023.
Activities to Welcome Tango to Sesame Place San Diego:
- Tango Meet-and-Greets – Tango will take photos and interact with guests on select days starting Feb. 4, 2023. Check the park website and/or mobile app for the daily schedule. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Sesame Street Party Parade – Guests can spot Sesame Place’s newest resident in the park’s daily, award-winning parade. Check the website and/or mobile app for parade times.
- Elmo & Tango’s Scavenger Hunt – Guests can search throughout the park for all the items Elmo needs to take care of Tango and turn in completed scavenger hunt sheets at Hooper’s Store for their choice of pet-themed prizes (self-guided scavenger hunts run throughout the day while supplies last).
- Tango’s Treat Seek – Tango’s Treat will be secretly hidden in the park on select dates. The first person to find Tango’s Treat will receive Sesame Street-themed pet prizes from BarkBox. Winners should bring Tango’s Treat to Sesame Souvenirs to claim their prize.
- Pet Adoption Weekend – To celebrate Tango’s debut, guests can meet rescue dogs just like Tango along with other animals at Sesame Place Adoption Days on Feb. 25. and 26, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Guests can also meet with local pet adoption partners and even see a special appearance from Elmo and Tango.
