UPDATE – 01/25/20: Hong Kong Disneyland has joined Shanghai Disney Resort in closing over the threat of the coronavirus.

The timing of this closure is unfortunate, as it comes right in the middle of the resort’s Lunar New Year festivities.

Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown, the Walt Disney Grand Theatre and Wishing Star Park will be closed indefinitely starting Saturday, Jan. 25. According to a statement, Disney will “continue to carefully monitor the situation and be in close contact with the local government,” and will announce the reopening date once it is safe to do so.

Shanghai Disney Resort will offer refunds for guests who have purchased tickets to Shanghai Disneyland, have booked a stay at a resort hotel, or have booked tickets for the “Beauty and the Beast” Mandarin production through the original ticket purchase channel. This process and guidelines for refunds will be revealed through the resort’s official channels soon.
