Silver Dollar City announces two big openings in May

Travelers are looking for outdoor experiences and adventures this spring, and Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo. is meeting that demand with the Bluegrass & BBQ Festival and the 2021 season for the Showboat Branson Belle, both opening earlier than initially scheduled.

The Silver Dollar City Bluegrass & BBQ Festival — one of the premier Bluegrass festivals in the U.S. — will begin on May 13 and run through May 31, with the Showboat Branson Belle cruises setting sail on May 14, 2021.

“The Branson area and Silver Dollar City are finding people looking for entertainment in safety-conscious settings. Many are focusing on experiences that include getting outdoors,” said Tim Stowe, general manager at Showboat Branson Belle and former Silver Dollar City entertainment manager. “There is truly demand to enjoy musical performances, variety, and good food.”

Awarded by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) for Distinguished Achievement in festival presentation, the 16-day Bluegrass & BBQ Festival presents award-winning favorites as well as rising stars on stages throughout the park. In addition, on Memorial Day Weekend, the annual Youth in Bluegrass Contest will feature a dozen young bands competing for a grand prize.

The festival’s spotlight also shines on the Branson’s famous barbecue, including meats smoked on-site for up to 16 hours and used in creative recipes like BBQ Brisket Kettle Chips, stuffed BBQ Waffles Cones, and Smoked Pulled-Pork Pizza. Of course, no barbecue would be complete without delicious desserts, including Strawberry Cheesecake or Salted Caramel Brownie layered in a mason jar.

This year, the park is introducing the first-ever Bluegrass & BBQ Tasting Passport, which allows guests to pick five tastes to try.
