Fun Spot America in Kissimmee, Fla. has introduced a new harness to the world’s tallest SkyCoaster attraction called Sky Sled.
This new harness allows riders to sit down during their free fall from 300 feet in the air. The Sky Sled also gives riders better views of Orlando and its surrounding attractions.
“The product has been in the works for about four, five years, and it was done in partnership with our harness manufacturing partner in California, said Mark Rosenzweig, managing director of SkyCoaster and Financial Partnerships at Ride Entertainment. “They have all kinds of cool contraptions. We tried [Sky Sled], just sat in and said ‘This is a go, we have to make it work.’”
This new harness allows existing SkyCoaster locations to offer two unique ride experiences for guests, but offers four key differences:
- The Sky Sled is a one size fits all, in comparison to the SkyCoaster’s five sizes of flight suits.
- The height requirement has also increased from 42 inches to 48 inches.
- Flights are limited to a combined weight of 850 pounds
- The new harness can only accommodate two riders.
This new experience is planned to open at four existing SkyCoaster locations across the country in 2019, but as of right now, the only place to experience it is Fun Spot in Kissimmee.
The new Sky Sled experience is priced the same as the original SkyCoaster: $40 each for single riders and $35 for two riders. If guests purchase a Single Day Fun Pass, the experience costs $20; if purchasing the Mega Fun Pass for $52.95, the flight experience is free!
