Attractions Magazine was invited to enjoy the fourth anniversary of the Space 220 restaurant at Epcot. During this event, we heard from chefs, enjoyed a “220-mile trip into space,” and experienced some of the new and signature menu items.

The Space 220 new menu items we tried do not have an official release date. We expect them to appear on the Space 220 Lounge menu in a few weeks. Also, at this time, we do not have official pricing for the Space 220 new menu items at the lounge. However, you can get a look at them and read our initial impression today.

New menu items at Space 220 Lounge

Cosmic Lobster Bao

Lobster Bao

This appetizer features lobster, celery, chives, and lime-mayo. We thought this dish was excellent. The grilled bao worked perfectly on this day. In fairness, we could have eaten five of these. However, we knew more food would be coming out.

DLR Curry Wurst

Currywurst

The play on a German classic street food impressed many in our group. This gluten-free item combines bratwurst, curry ketchup, and fries to present an appealing new menu item at Space 220.

Solar Flare Pork Belly

This elevated version of pork chops and applesauce makes a quality lounge/bar bite. Guests receive slow-roasted pork belly, spiced apple sauce, and pickled radish. This Space 220 new menu item for the lounge aims to have guests enjoy every component for a complete dining experience.

Astro Cluck and Cosmic Crisp

Astro Cluck, Cosmic Crisp - Space 220 Lounge new menu

This update to the former chicken and waffle dish utilizes buttermilk fried chicken, a waffle with spicy maple syrup, spicy pickles, and a housemade hot sauce. The hot sauce is the same one used on the popular Space 220 Blue Moon Cauliflower. The spicy kick of the hot sauce complements the well-prepared chicken. However, guests looking for a robust spicy kick will not find it in this dish. Still, those avoiding spicy food should probably skip this.

Saturn Reuben Sandwich

Our group felt this tasted like … a Reuben sandwich — in a good way. It consists of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Russian dressing, and rye bread.

Flight 220 – Dessert

Desserts

Space 220 has revamped its popular dessert flight with a new version. Guests get a Cosmic Cheesecake, a Cookies n Cream Macaron, and a Strawberry Saturn. All three of these desserts deserve praise. However, when combined on one plate, they equate to the solution for any sweet tooth.

The Cosmic Cheesecake consists of chocolate cheesecake, cookie crumbs, raspberry gel, and a chocolate dome. Guests need to “whack” it open to break the dome, making it an interactive dessert. The photo-worthy Strawberry Saturn presents guests with vanilla mousse, strawberry compote, and strawberry Crumbs. The Cookies n Cream Macaron replaces the restaurant’s former Tang Macaron.

While the Space 220 new menu is impressive, what causes Walt Disney World guests to visit this table service restaurant involves more than the food. For many, Space 220 functions as an attraction in itself. The attention to detail, from the space elevator to the ever-changing views outside the windows, immerses guests in the fantasy of dining on a futuristic space station.

Whether you’re a space enthusiast, a foodie, or simply looking for a unique Walt Disney World experience, this interstellar dining adventure is a must-try. Please forgive us, but we have to say it: dining at Space 220 at Epcot is truly out of this world.

We recommend reservations

Reservations are highly recommended, as Space 220 remains one of Epcot’s most in-demand restaurants.

The Space 220 Lounge area accepts advance dining reservations just like the main dining area. We suggest that if looking to dine in the lounge area, guests make an advanced dining reservation. Lounge reservations tend to be harder to get due to fewer tables.

If you dine at the Space 220 Lounge, you have the option to order from both the lounge menu and the prix fixe restaurant menu. In other words, guests dining at the Space 220 Lounge have more options.

Space 220 arrival and ‘elevator ride’

If you’ve ever dreamed of dining among the stars without leaving Earth, Epcot’s Space 220 Restaurant delivers an experience unlike anything else at Walt Disney World. Located next to Mission: Space in the park’s World Discovery neighborhood, this one-of-a-kind dining location transports guests 220 miles above the planet’s surface for an unforgettable meal.

The adventure begins the moment you check in. Instead of simply being seated, you board a “space elevator” that simulates a journey high above Earth (see video below). As the floor rumbles and the “windows” reveal views of the planet shrinking below, the anticipation builds. In just a few moments, you arrive at the Centauri Space Station, home of Space 220.

Once inside the main dining room, the Space 220 experience unfolds more. The restaurant presents guests with towering digital windows that line the walls, providing panoramic views of Earth from orbit. You might catch astronauts floating by, space cruisers gliding past, or even a satellite in motion. It’s a stunning backdrop that creates a sense of immersion throughout the entire meal.

Familiar menu items still at Space 220

The Space 220 menu matches the atmosphere with a blend of upscale and modern American cuisine. Lunch features a prix fixe two-course meal, while dinner expands into three courses. Starters include dishes like Blue Moon Cauliflower and Neptune Tartare, while entrées showcase elevated classics such as Orbit Filet Mignon, Mangala Roasted Chicken, and Galatic Miso Salmon.

Lunar Carrot Cake

Dessert options range from Cosmic Cheesecake to the signature Lunar Carrot Cake. These will finish the experience with a sweet touch. Additionally, for kids, there’s a dedicated “Lift-Off” menu with fun options like Mozzarella Moons and Mini Mission Mac.

The restaurant also shines with its extensive beverage program. Specialty cocktails come with cosmic names like the “Black Hole Fashioned” or “Gamma Burst,” often accented with glowing ice cubes or colorful garnishes. For those looking for a non-alcoholic option, there are equally creative mocktails, making the experience family-friendly.
