On Oct. 9, 2022, Disney fans can spend an Oogie Boogie Afternoon learning about Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash from the Disney Imagineers and Live Entertainment team members who bring the event to life.
During a conversation moderated by “Dizney Coast to Coast” podcast host (and Attractions contributing writer) Jeff DePaoli, creator and show director Jordan Peterson, media and lighting director KC Wilkerson, and producer Jennifer Magill will reveal the design and creation process that transforms California Adventure into the fan-favorite after-hours Halloween party.
Following the panel discussion, guests will be treated to a screening of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” the 1993 holiday classic that was first integrated into Disneyland’s Halloween and holiday celebrations with Haunted Mansion Holiday in 2001 and later crossed the esplanade to California Adventure in 2019 with the introduction of Oogie Boogie Bash.
“Having the chance to chat with the folks who created Oogie Boogie Bash is an absolute joy for me,” DePaoli says. “As someone who loves live entertainment and Halloween, I was blown away by this event when it first premiered. I can’t wait to get some behind the scenes insight direct from the folks who built it. And then to follow it up with a viewing of the movie that inspired it on the big screen feels like the perfect way to conclude our conversation.”
An Oogie Boogie Afternoon will take place at the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, Calif. (seven miles from Disneyland) on Oct. 9, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.
A limited number of tickets are now on sale for this one-time-only event. General admission ($30) includes access to the live panel, movie screening, and takeaway gifts, including an event lanyard and poster; VIP tickets ($45) include reserved section seating, popcorn, and soda.
