As a result of the ongoing impact of COVID-19, ReedPOP and Lucasfilm have made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration 2020 in Anaheim, Calif.

The bi-annual convention was originally scheduled to take place Aug. 27-30 at the Anaheim Convention Center. As a result of this cancelation, the convention will return to Anaheim on Aug. 18-21, 2022.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, we’ve made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration 2020. While this news is disappointing, we’re happy to announce #StarWarsCelebration will return to Anaheim in 2022. Fans who were planning to attend Star Wars Celebration this year now have the choice to either transfer their current ticket purchase to the new event dates, receive a refund, or receive a credit for Star Wars Celebration merchandise.

As a gift to fans who choose to transfer their 2020 event tickets to the 2022 convention, they will receive a free, exclusive Star Wars Celebration stormtrooper character pin for all transferred tickets. This pin is the first of over 50 unique Star Wars Celebration pins that will be revealed soon.

Information about transferring your tickets or requesting a refund can be found online at StarWarsCelebration.com. All ticket holders will receive an e-mail with detailed instructions on how to submit their request.

For those who pre-ordered merchandise, they now have the option to still receive their order or request a refund. All of the exclusive merchandise planned for this year’s event will be available for purchase online in the future, and those who choose to receive a merchandise credit will be able to use it at that time.

The ticket refund and merchandise credit request period will open on Monday, June 22 and must be completed by Aug. 26, 2020. If you’ve booked a hotel in the official room block through the convention’s housing portal, your reservation will automatically be canceled.

In addition to this cancelation, Disneyland Resort has decided to postpone their after-hours event, Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite, to a later date. The Disney Parks Blog recommends guests head to Disneyland.com/StarWarsNite for more information, but at this moment, the page redirects to an update on the resort’s operations.

To learn more about how to transfer your tickets or request a refund, visit StarWarsCelebration.com.
