Disney has announced that story enhancements and updates are coming to the Jungle Cruise attraction at both Disneyland park at Disneyland Resort and Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.
These changes will add the skippers to the heart of the story and “reflect and value the diversity of the world around us.” Imagineer—and former Jungle Cruise skipper—Kevin Lively shares a few sneak peeks at the changes to come in the video below:
The new concept for the attraction will be original to Walt Disney Imagineering, adding some “gnu” magic while keeping the gags and fun guests love.
Imagineers will soon invite current Jungle Cruise skippers at Disneyland park and Magic Kingdom park to a Jungle Navigation Company Roll Call, where they will be among the first to learn more about the new adventures to come for the attraction.
More details about the enhancements to the classic attraction will be shared later this year. According to an interview with Imagineer Chris Beatty for D23, the scene involving the “natives” and its negative depictions is among those that will be changed.
