Universal’s Summer Tribute Store opens May 24 with ‘E.T.,’ ‘Shrek’ merch
The Summer Tribute Store, themed to classic blockbuster movies, will open May 24, 2024 at Universal Studios Florida.
Summer Tribute Store Merchandise
The seasonally rotating Tribute Store is a tradition at Universal Orlando Resort, typically spotlighting Halloween Horror Nights, the holiday season, Mardi Gras, and a wildcard theme during summer months.
The Summer Tribute Store for 2024 will align with the upcoming launch of three experiences: DreamWorks Land, the “CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular” lagoon show, and “Universal Mega Movie Parade.”
Inside the store, guests will find merchandise from Universal (and Universal-adjacent) films which mostly debuted as summer blockbusters:
- “Jaws” (June 20, 1975)
- “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” (June 11, 1982)
- “Ghostbusters” (June 8, 1984)
- “Back to the Future” (July 3, 1985)
- “Shrek” (April 22, 2001)
Exclusive merchandise will include a new “Shrek” collection and a “outdoors-inspired line” focused on “E.T.”
Later in the summer, the Tribute Store will sell bubble wands branded to “Jurassic World,” “Minions,” and “Trolls” that will interact with those films’ respective floats in the upcoming “Universal Mega Movie Parade.”
Summer Tribute Store Theming
Par for the course with previous Tribute Stores, the new retail location will be detailed with props and placemaking. The atmosphere of the Summer Tribute store will be themed as The Tribute Store Plaza, a 1980s mall. The shop will contain three rooms emulating fictional businesses:
- Mega Video Rental
- Mega Castle Arcade
- Tribute Theatre
Summer at Universal Orlando
The Summer Tribute Store will be open for a limited time, though Universal has not announced a closing date. DreamWorks Land officially opens June 14, 2024 as do the nighttime shows “CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular” and “Hogwarts Always” (the latter next door at Universal Islands of Adventure). “Universal Mega Movie Parade” will premiere July 3, 2024.
