Take a walk in a ‘Winter Wonderland’ at Lowry Park Zoo

Each holiday season, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo transforms into a Wild Wonderland. Guests can stroll through the Zoo in a different way, illuminated with holiday lights, sights and sounds on select nights in December.

Find holiday decorations and shimmering lights throughout the Zoo’s pathways, including a musical light show set against the backdrop of an enchanting castle entryway, animated displays and lovely storefront windows.

The newest addition to the event is an Arctic Freeze Ice Slide, 100 feet of frozen fun, located inside the Reindeer Games area. Here families can relax, play carnival games, and the little ones can jump for joy on new inflatables.

Guests can also visit the real reindeer and their feathered friends, the penguins. For the first time, guests will be able to see the animals of Safari Africa in a whole new light – under the starry night sky. This new area, known as Safari Spectacular, will include the Frozen Forest, a white crystal light experience.

Nightly “Florida flurries” will take place as well in the front plaza. Returning family favorites include: free Zoo rides, Frosty & friends walk-around characters, decadent treats from the zoo’s own Sweet Shoppe, festive music and wild gifts at the holiday shop.

Admission prices for Wild Wonderland is only $13 for adults (ages 12 and over), $11 for children (ages 3-11), and free for ages 2 and under. Parking is free. Tickets may be purchased online by clicking here and at the Zoo’s front gate during business hours or on the night of the event. The event runs from 6:30 through 10 p.m. on Dec. 8, 14 to 23 and 26 to 30, 2012.
