The Incredibles face characters debut during Pixar Day at Sea cruise

Pixar Day at Sea has begun on the Disney Fantasy cruise ship. Featuring unique, character-driven experiences, the day-long celebration brings the beloved Pixar tales of “Toy Story,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “The Incredibles,” “Finding Nemo,” and more to life. But The Incredibles are seen in a new way. Instead of the normal form we see them in at the parks, these are what Disney calls “face characters.”

Face characters are different than fur or sculpted characters, with the main difference being that you can see the performers real face.

Seen above, The Incredibles characters we see in the theme parks, Edna, Frozone, Mr. Incredible, and Mrs. Incredible, are sculpted type characters. These are the type of characters who use big animations and work with their attendants to tell a story. Face characters directly talk to you with their actual voice, not to be confused with previous limited-time talking sculpted characters.

Now though, we can meet and speak directly with this incredible crew during Pixar Day at Sea. This can allow for more specific interactions, and some sass from Edna Mode.

It is interesting that Disney advertised the Pixar Day at Sea with the older model of characters, but perhaps it was to keep this surprise. Disney also showcased the Pixar Day at Sea food, which we recommend checking out.

Meeting the 'Real' Buzz Lightyear from 'Lightyear' at Disneyland

There hasn’t been any official announcement as to whether we can expect The Incredibles face characters to show up at the Disney Parks around the world. But Disney has done these limited-time face characters before, like when the ‘real’ Buzz Lightyear appeared at the Disneyland Resort.
