Peacock and Blumhouse Productions are collaborating to create “Overnightmare,” a weekend-long, overnight experience inspired by favorite Blumhouse horror flicks at The Lodge at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colo. (about 90 minutes from Denver).

The Stanley Hotel inspired Stephen King in writing “The Shining,” the classic horror novel that director Stanley Kubrick eventually adapted for the silver screen.

Overnightmare will take place Oct. 18-20, 2024 and will have a limited capacity of 32 hotel rooms themed to one of four Blumhouse films: “Happy Death Day,” “Freaky,” “The Purge,” or “Insidious.”

The price for the total weekend Blumhouse experience with a room of two occupants at the fabled “The Shining” hotel is $1,031. Reservations are now available. Participants of Overnightmare must be at least 21 years old.

Experiences themed to Blumhouse movies

At nighttime during the Overnightmares event at “The Shining” hotel, Peacock says visitors “will be pulled from their beds” to participate in experiences of varying scare factor.

Guests can select their preferred experience upon reserving their room (listed below from least scary to most intense, with descriptions from Peacock):

Happy Death Day: Time Loop Terror” — The dorm party no one wanted just got crazier.

Freaky: Body Swap Surprise” — A killer on the loose, a teen in over her head, and a body swap gone terribly wrong.

The Purge: Under Siege” — Survival becomes the name of the game when the lawless chaos of Purge Night begins.

Insidious: Journey Into the Further” — When the veil between worlds lifts, darkness is all that remains. 4 out of 4 daggers. This is our most intense scare experience.

Guests will also get to see screenings of “Teacup,” a new horror series. (The show debuts Oct. 10, 2024 on Peacock with new episodes weekly through Halloween.) Meanwhile at the Blumhouse Bar, visitors can enjoy specialty drinks and play the upcoming Blumhouse video game “Fear the Spotlight.” While the event’s hotel location is steeped in “The Shining” history, the weekend does not include any experiences themed specifically to “The Shining” itself.

More events at ‘The Shining’ hotel

For fans unable to make it to the Blumhouse takeover weekend, The Stanley Hotel offers The Shining Tour year-round, which the property describes as a “theatrical tour experience.” The hotel will also host The Shining Ball on Oct. 26, 2024. These events are unaffiliated with Peacock.

We have Blumhouse at home

“The Shining” hotel isn’t the only place where the terror of Blumhouse reigns this spooky season. Peacock has launched a Halloween Horror 2024 collection, featuring Blumhouse standards, vintage spooks, and new premieres.

This fall, AMC Theatres will host BlumFest 2024 with screenings of “Paranormal Activity,” “Lights Out,” “Insidious: Chapter 2,” “The Black Phone,” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s.”

This season at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal theme parks, guests can encounter Blumhouse icons like M3GAN throughout the “Enter the Blumhouse” scare zone (in Orlando) and Terror Tram (in Hollywood).
