Tikitapu Splash now open at Aquatica San Antonio
Tikitapu Splash, a new, 15,000-square-foot water playground, is now open at Aquatica San Antonio in Texas, next door to SeaWorld.
15,000-Square-Foot Water Playground
Tikitapu Splash debuted April 6, 2024. The play area features four water slides, three buckets filled with 1,325 gallons of water, and 100 spray elements. Take a look:
The roots of Tikitapu Splash are as follows:
Keeping in line with Aquatica’s tropical oasis theme inspired by the Māori culture of New Zealand, Tikitapu Splash takes its name from Lake Tikitapu — also known as Blue Lake — one of four lakes found in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand’s North Island. The name Tikitapu finds its origins in Māori history, being a sacred necklace believed to have been lost in the lake by the daughter of a high-ranking chief.

“We are always thinking of exciting ways to enhance our guests’ experience,” said David Skelton, vice president of Aquatica, “and Tikitapu Splash will provide new and even more fun, interactive, and creative ways to beat the Texas heat.”
As seen in the video above, Skelton, along with Jodi Davenport, president of Aquatica, took a ride down a Tikitapu Splash slide in business clothes as part of the grand opening.
