For the first time ever, the Times Square Ball will drop eight separate times, recognizing midnight in each American time zone and territory, transitioning July 3, into July 4, 2026. The rolling celebration will begin in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, then continue across Puerto Rico, the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and conclude in American Samoa.

A nationwide countdown begins in the Pacific

The first ceremonial drop is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. EDT on July 3 for the Chamorro Time Zone. The celebration will begin with the first ball drop at 10:00 a.m. EDT for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, then continue throughout the day and night as midnight reaches each U.S. time zone.

The signature 11:59 p.m. EDT Times Square ball drop will mark midnight for the Eastern Time Zone, followed by later celebrations for Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska, Hawaii-Aleutian, and finally American Samoa at 6:00 a.m. EDT on July 4.

According to America250 Chair Rosie Rios, the event is designed to unite the country through a shared national experience stretching from “Guam to New York to Alaska to American Samoa.”

This big celebration joins a growing lineup of places to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

One Times Square becomes national broadcast hub

Like New Year’s Eve, One Times Square will serve as the centerpiece for live broadcasts and livestreams throughout the day and night. The Eastern Time Zone ball drop in New York City will serve as the signature prime-time moment, while each subsequent drop will celebrate communities across the nation.

Launching “Giving 4th”

The July 3 event also serves as the kickoff for Giving 4th, a new initiative aiming to make July 4, 2026, the largest charitable giving day in American history.

America250 says the campaign will unite nonprofits, performers, corporations, and local communities to encourage donations and volunteerism during the Semiquincentennial celebration.
