Tron Lightcycle / Run reaches major construction milestone
Walt Disney World Site Portfolio Executive Zach Riddley has revealed that Tron Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom has reached a major construction milestone.

In an Instagram post, Riddley stated “I’m excited to share these images of the very first canopy piece being installed at Tron Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom this morning! This is one of nearly 40 pieces that will create a dramatic “curved wave” canopy, known as the Upload Conduit, which will flow organically over Guests as they race underneath on their Lightcycles. I’m proud of all the work our Imagineers have put into this @waltdisneyworld attraction so far, and the exciting work ahead to bring the Grid to life in Tomorrowland!”
The canopy piece seen in the photo is just one of 40 pieces that will create the Upload Conduit. Riddley stated that each piece is strategically pre-assembled before installation.
Riddley also posted a video on Instagram of the installation process, stating “It’s been fun to see everyone’s reactions to the photos I shared yesterday of the first piece of canopy being installed at Tron Lightcycle / Run at @waltdisneyworld. Each section is strategically preassembled before installation, including alignment of the steel, welding, grinding, some painting and electrical work. It’s an intricate process and something we’ll get to see rise before our eyes over the coming weeks and months.”
Tron Lightcycle / Run is currently open (as “Tron Lightcycle Power Run”) at Shanghai Disneyland. The attraction takes guests on a high-speed bike race through The Grid in Tomorrowland. For a glimpse of what is coming to Magic Kingdom, check out this ride-through POV below:
