Universal Orlando no longer selling Dippin’ Dots

After many years of offering theme park guests guests the opportunity to enjoy the “ice cream of the future,” Universal Orlando has officially confirmed that Dippin’ Dots have been discontinued at its resort.

It may have gone unnoticed by many (hat tip to Derek Burgan of Touring Plans) amid the myriad pandemic-prompted changes around the Universal Orlando Resort. But in recent months, Universal Orlando quietly removed Dippin’ Dots from all menus and some Dippin’ Dots carts inside its theme parks, as well as at the CityWalk entertainment complex.

The tiny super-cold spheres of ice cream had been available at Universal attractions for well over a decade, and were a staple of snack stands like Hop on Pop in Seuss Landing, outside the Popeye ride, and at the Hollywood or Bust trailer in KidZone.

After seeing that the novelty treat had been removed from all Universal Orlando locations, including its dedicated snack stand in CityWalk, we enquired with the resort and received official confirmation that “Dippin’ Dots is no longer offered.” They also pointed us to one of their official blog posts written last August which lists many of the other ice cream treats you can find at the Universal resort.

There is still hope for Universal Orlando fans of beaded dairy desserts. Mini Melts, a competitor of Dippin’ Dots, can currently be found in a self-service cooler inside Pier 8 Market at Endless Summer Resort Dockside Inn and Suites. You can also check the locator page at DippinDots.com for other nearby locations such as Fun Spot and The Florida Mall.

  1. Had Mini Melts @ Cabana Bay and saw Swan and Dolphin had them also. Found them to actually be much better.

  2. Because they (Dippin Dots) are using their facilities to assist with storing the Covid vaccines instead.
