Universal Orlando requiring team members, encouraging guests to wear face coverings while indoors

As a result of the recent CDC recommendations due to the increase in COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant, theme parks in the U.S. are starting to bring back mask guidelines — and Universal Orlando is no exception.

However, in a statement from Universal, it was shared that while team members would be required to wear their masks while working indoors in guest areas, guests would only be encouraged to do the same.

The health and safety of our guests and team members is always our top priority.  We encourage all our guests to follow CDC guidelines and local directives to wear face coverings while indoors across our destination. Beginning Saturday, all Team Members will wear face coverings while working indoors in guest areas and all will continue to practice social distancing.

Official statement from Universal Orlando Resort

This new rule for team members will go into effect on Saturday, July 31. Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood requires guests to wear face coverings indoors regardless of vaccination status. Walt Disney World also announced earlier this week that guests will once again be required to wear masks in indoor areas.

What do you think of Universal’s take on the mask rule for guests and team members? Would you prefer to have everyone required to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status? Or is it more enticing to let guests choose whether or not to comply? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
