The spirit of the holidays is on its way to Universal Studios Hollywood with the return of seasonal favorites “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” and “Grinchmas.”
The fun begins on Thursday, Nov. 28 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 29. Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter adds holiday cheer to Hogsmeade Village with seasonal décor and a projection nighttime spectacular that brings Hogwarts Castle to life. “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle” will illuminate the castle with bright, colorful imagery and animations that dance along to a musical arrangement from the “Harry Potter” films.
Guests can also enjoy musical performances from the a cappella Frog Choir, made up of Hogwarts students and their giant frogs, as they sing holiday-themed songs from the Wizarding World. A selection of custom-made Christmas ornaments created especially for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be available for purchase. Collectibles include a decorative Hogwarts snow globe, Hogwarts crest and mascot ornaments that represent each house, wizard card ornaments, a tree topper, and house pennant garland.
For Grinchmas, a new state-of-the-art, topsy-turvy tree will stand over 55 feet in height and be adorned with hundreds of ornaments and thousands of lights choreographed to music. Tree-lighting ceremonies will take place every evening, accompanied by a snow flurry.
Holiday decorations will also be found throughout the park, and a group of merry Minions will be found spreading Christmas cheer at “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land.”
Universal CityWalk’s 40-foot-tall Christmas tree will glisten with 200,000 LED icicles choreographed to the lights and sounds of the season. Guests can also enjoy a lineup of free concert performances an an ensemble of street performers. CityWalk’s water fountain will also offer a holiday display as it projects streams of choreographed water into the air with red and green LED lights and holiday music.
