Vegan Butterbeer debuts in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Beginning today, Universal is offering vegan Butterbeer for the first time, available at its theme parks in both Florida and California. For over a decade, Butterbeer has been a staple of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as signature to its experience as any of the land’s major attractions.
Where to find vegan Butterbeer
The new, non-dairy, vegan version of Butterbeer has said to retain everything guests love about the non-alcoholic drink, from its butterscotch-like flavor to its white froth on top. The vegan option is available cold or frozen.
At Universal Orlando, vegan Butterbeer is available at Three Broomsticks (inside Islands of Adventure in the Hogsmeade area of the Wizarding World) and at the Leaky Cauldron (inside Universal Studios Florida in the Wizarding World’s Diagon Alley).
At Universal Studios Hollywood, guests can find vegan Butterbeer at either Three Broomsticks or Hog’s Head Pub, both located in that park’s only Wizarding World land, Hogsmeade.
An unsuspecting theme park trailblazer
When the first Wizarding World opened in 2010 in Orlando, Butterbeer’s success became something of a phenomenon. In the years to come, no major expansion in a park — Universal or otherwise — was complete without a themed beverage, from LeFou’s Brew in New Fantasyland to blue and green milk in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The precedent continues with the just-opened Super Nintendo World, where guests can enjoy sodas themed to Mario and pals.
More vegan options in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The new version of Butterbeer joins existing vegan options within The Wizarding World on both coasts. Universal offers Irish stew (above left) and shepherd’s pasty pie (above middle) in both Orlando and Hollywood. Orlando also serves a mushroom pie platter (above right).
