VIDEO: New monorails coming to Tokyo Disney Resort this May

This spring, a new “Type C” monorail will enter into service at Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan.

The first of 5 trains will enter into service on May 21, 2020, with the rest of the trains to be introduced by the end of fiscal year 2024.

The exterior of the monorails follows the accent colors of the Disney Resort Line currently in operation, with two-color graduation to create soft-looking waves on the sides. In addition, the Mickey-shaped windows are larger to improve viewability.

With the interior, both the height and the width have been widened, and the seats have been lengthened to improve the boarding and unloading processes. A freestanding space has also been set up on each vehicle to meet the needs of guests with wheelchairs, and wide spaces have been added to the third and fourth cars of each train.

The Mickey-shaped handles have also been changed to accommodate three different height levels, so kids and adults alike can use them. In addition, the observation seats on the monorails have been adjusted to better accommodate strollers and wheelchairs.
