Video: The LaVene Family Trail of Nightmares in Celebration, Florida

The LaVene Family Trail of Nightmares in downtown Celebration, Fla. is a surprisingly fun small-scale Halloween haunt. While it doesn’t come close to having the same big budgets used to create Halloween Horror Nights and Howl-O-Scream, this haunted walking trail does have a unique personal touch.

Dr. Daniel LaVene (pictured above) is a real doctor, currently practicing medicine at Central Florida Regional Hospital In Sanford, Fla. For the last 25 years, Dr. LaVene has been building up this home haunt and has now donated it to Celebration to benefit charities as it has simply grown too large for him to handle on his own.

On the Trail of Nightmares Web site, LaVene writes, “I do it for the kids and to see their faces….the awe of it all; and for the adults as well.” While Halloween Horror Nights and Howl-O-Scream are intended for older audiences, the scares found within the LaVene Family Trail of Nightmares are recommended for children 12 and older, though adults may bring children of any age through the experience.

To give you an idea of the level of scares found within the LaVene Family Trail of Nightmares, our cameras followed a group of young girls through the experience. This video shows the hauntingly hilarious results:
