Walt Disney World cast members film fun ‘back to work’ video
With Walt Disney World theme parks reopening soon, many cast members returned to work today to get ready to safely welcome back guests. Some Magic Kingdom cast members were so excited to make some Disney magic again, they took it upon themselves to make a fun video about it.
It all started with a Haunted Mansion Butler, AKA Dustin Wolf. One of his leaders suggested the idea and he ran with it. Wolf came up with the basic premise and word of mouth spread among the Adventureland and Liberty Square cast members. Everyone in the video contributed their own clips and Wolf edited them together with a popular fitting song.
Here’s the video. (Click the speaker icon at the bottom to turn the audio on.) You’ll notice Wolf coming out of his coffin towards the beginning. See if you can figure out where each cast member works from their costume and actions in the video, as they receive a message to come back to work from their “boss”, and get dressed, ready to make the magic once again.
UPDATE – June 30, 2020: A couple of more groups of cast members have sent us their videos too.
Disney Holiday Services made this video to show they are ready to make more Holiday Magic Decor:
The Disney Vacation Club Advanced Sales Land Team at Disney World created the below video. It’s a fun play on a Disney Channel original song featuring them from our homes including their families and pets:
Is a link to the video or an embed too much to ask?
The video is embedded above. If you’re having trouble with it, you may be able to also see it at https://www.facebook.com/ButlerDustin/videos/3601954793153538/?__cft__%5B0%5D=AZWK4C0uwPeh9Cc0jQefOe4UBzax3RmHfBRi-uiHMhMwCeVhX4SdaBsvEacoX8C-OHUiugoIbefOAWtrFgSFsRzvjq2Yn7DAirD4SH-WK7qLLhC0bTYbFrn6_XMnKOdihlw&__tn__=%2CO-R
I have to side with them. No video link is on the site. At least not in mobile format
It may appear as just a commercial, but the video plays after the commercial ends. It’s the one directly above the Pirates photo.
That’s pretty appalling. I guess everyone assumes no one will be made sick.
When I worked for Walt Disney World, we learned in traditions that our four core values were Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency. The values were taught and listed in order of importance and priority. Safety First.
Now we disregard Safety First for tens of thousands of Guests and thousands of Cast Members. We share the impossible lie that half-measures like masks and social distancing will keep everyone safe. It’s a lie because it will keep MANY people safe, but not EVERYONE safe. So we gamble. So we take a chance.
So ha-ha we make a funny video about it and invite people with our heartfelt “welcome home”. Ha-ha, we gamble with their lives and with our own.
Agree.
Floida disney parks should delay for public health. Florida is spiking harder than California and disneyland is not reopening.
I think disney, disney fan sites, theme park bloggers and YouTubers are desperate fro $$$ and views, clicks almost as deperate disney is for money $$$ and profit over people.
Its not just about guest safety and cast member safety, its about who they go home to, family that may be vulnerable or immunocomprimised.
Don’t buy the lie. Gizmodo has an article about cast members to busy worrying about getting Covid-19 to make happy videos. They can chose to work or get voluntarily fired? This is wrong.
How awesome!
Well done guys! Thanks for coming hone for us to play!
That video was great. Thanks to all the cast members who work so hard to make our trips fun. I, for one, appreciate all you do for us guests. Please everyone be kind to the cast members and do what they ask since right now things are so crazy and whatever they ask you to do is for their and your safety.
Gave me goosebumps!
Welcome Home!
Welcome Home! Brought tears to my eyes. Thanks guys for everything you do and being there and being you!
It’s time we do what we do, the best way we all can! Mwah! And (air) hugs to each and every one!
That was fun. I enjoyed seeing the cast members’ homes too & seeing how they decorated with Disney flourishes. It’s great to see the enthusiasm of people that clearly love their jobs.
My family and I loved it and it brought smiles and laughter to a bleak time. The ability to make people smile is a Disney thing and during this time everyone needs to smile.
