‘Walt Disney World Encyclopedia’ offers comprehensive history of Magic Kingdom
Writer and former Disneyland cast member Kevin Yee has teamed up with blogger and Disney historian George Taylor to create the first-ever comprehensive encyclopedia of the Magic Kingdom, titled “The Independent Walt Disney World Encyclopedia Vol 1: Magic Kingdom.”
Over 400 entries are packed into the volume’s 128 pages, but this is not just a copy and paste of information you can find online. Yee and Taylor primarily relied on official Disney resources, including park maps over the years, to construct an accounting of every ride, restaurant and shop that once resided in the park. This work, according to the authors, represents the first thorough, rigorous, and comprehensive cross-checking of this information, “held to academic standards.”
Each entry features a brief description of the item, its dates of operation, what came before it (or if it was present on opening day in 1971), and what replaced it. If the entry is an attraction, restaurant, or shop, readers will also learn where it was located.
As the title implies, this comprehensive volume is an independent work and has not been endorsed by The Walt Disney Company. Yee plans to release other volumes covering the rest of the Walt Disney World parks in future years.
You can purchase your copy now on Amazon in either paperback for $7.99 or on Kindle for $2.99.
Sounds like an informative and fun read
Love the fact that it covers ALL rides shows and restaurants from opening day until the present
I’ll be sure to pick it up
Thanks for the information
lol 128 pages – how “comprehensive” is that going to be? and tiny b&w pictures? pass.
What a horrible cover for a book on the MK. I’ll buy the book but it’s too bad that photos in the book aren’t in color and that there aren’t more of them.
