Six-year-old Jermaine Bell from Jacksonville, Fla. spent over a year saving up for his birthday trip to Walt Disney World Resort. However, Hurricane Dorian had other plans.

When the hurricane moved up its projected path along the South Carolina coast, Jermaine used all of his vacation funds to buy hundreds of hot dogs, bags of chips and bottled water. The compassionate boy served them all free of charge to hurricane evacuees as they passed through the South Carolina town where he was visiting his grandmother.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, Jermaine celebrated his seventh birthday, and welcomed a very unexpected guest – Mickey Mouse! Mickey and a group of Walt Disney World cast members made a trip to the birthday party to surprise Jermaine and his family with the news that they would be going to Walt Disney World after all. To show thanks for Jermaine’s kind act during Hurricane Dorian, the family will get to enjoy a VIP vacation to the resort later this month.
