Walt Disney World testing a cashless resort stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House

Get ready for greenbacks to go away at Disney’s African-themed hotel, because Walt Disney World will soon be testing cashless resort stays at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House.
Beginning on Monday, Feb. 12, Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House hotel will begin testing a completely cashless transaction policy for all purchases and services. During this “pilot” program, which has no scheduled end date, guests must pay for all charges at the hotel with MagicBands, credit cards, debit cards, Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards or contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay.
Cash will only be accepted at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House as gratuities by cast members such as bell services, valets, bartenders or servers. All food, beverage, merchandise, and other purchases must be made with one of the aforementioned cashless systems.
If you are staying at the hotel, a cash deposit can be placed with the front desk to permit charging privileges. Guests who are visiting the hotel and only have cash can ask a cast member for assistance with purchases, and an ATM will still be located near the lobby.
At this time, the cashless test only applies to Jambo House, not Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village. Guests with existing hotel and dining reservations should be notified in advance of their visit.
