Westgate River Ranch adds ‘ranch chic’ steakhouse to its dining lineup
Westgate River Ranch & Rodeo in Lake Wales takes cowboy cuisine to the next level with the opening of River Ranch Cattle Company Chophouse & Bar.
The downhome dude ranch – sister resort to Orlando’s Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa – added “glamping” in luxury teepees to its resort lineup in 2016, and now they’ve booted their dining options up several notches with the opening of their new “ranch chic” steakhouse, serving the freshest cuts of meat with a healthy side of Florida-grown produce and an intriguing wine and cocktail menu.
River Ranch Cattle Company Chophouse & Bar specializes in USDA certified Black Angus Beef sourced from Aberdeen Angus Stockyard, ensuring the finest marbling and richest flavors steak lovers demand.
A creative menu features starters, soups & salads, entrees, From the Grill, and sides, with out-of-the-ordinary appetizer selections such as Wild Boar Barbecue Ribs, Buffalo Short Rib Flatbread, Wild Florida Gator Buffalo Dip, Crispy Deviled Eggs, and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes.
Equally interesting are entrees of Wild Boar Gnocchi, Buffalo Bone-In Braised Short Ribs, half of a roasted chicken, and seared Chilean Salmon, along with the more usual grilled meats, Aged Ribeye Bone-In, Filet Mignon, T-Bone, and “Palomilla Style” Skirt Steak
Entrée prices range from $24-$45, Starters are $10-$16, and sides, such as creamy grits, roasted brussels sprouts, and mac & cheese are $7.
Classic and handcrafted cocktails start or finish a fine meal right, and at Cattle Company the selection ranges from cocktails featuring moonshine, peanut butter whiskey, and other top-shelf liquors. The bar’s signature cocktail is the cherry-wood Smoked Old Fashioned, delivered in a smoking decanter.
