Get your ‘Wicked’ popcorn bucket ready: movie magic lands in theaters on November 22
“Wicked” fans have a popcorn bucket to enjoy and not misunderstand when the movie arrives in theaters on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024
The much-anticipated release of “Wicked” in theaters happens on Nov. 22. The “Wicked” movie stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp, a misunderstood young woman born with green skin who eventually becomes the iconic Wicked Witch of the West. Ariana Grande plays Galinda Upland, a popular young student at Shiz University who eventually becomes Glinda the Good.
This film functions as the first part of the adaptation of the “Wicked” stage musical written by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. The musical takes inspiration from Gregory Maguire’s novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch in the West” and, of course, L. Frank Baum’s novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
‘Wicked’ popcorn bucket at Regal Cinemas
Various merchandise items have been released as part of the marketing campaign for this movie. Following a trend that theme park fans know well, a special limited-edition “Wicked” popcorn bucket was designed for this movie. Recently, Regal Cinemas released information about this popcorn bucket on its social media.
As “Wicked” fans would expect, some of the popcorn buckets are prominently green or pink, drawing inspiration from the film’s two main characters. On another popcorn bucket design, the “Wicked” logo is displayed on one side while the opposite side shows the two main characters walking hand in hand.
In addition to the popcorn bucket, Regal Cinemas will sell other “Wicked” merchandise for fans to enjoy. Some additional items are:
- Plushies
- Funko Pops, based on characters from the film
- Funko Pop keychains
- Tumblers, toppers, and Hex Tins based on the “Wicked” characters
- Witch Hat Cup
Cinemark merchandise and ticket offer
For the “Wicked” movie, Cinemark Theatres will sell a special ticket package that includes merchandise. Guests buying this ticket will see the film one day early on Nov. 21, 2024.
The $30 Super Ticket package includes admission to “Wicked,” a double-sided mini poster, a tumbler, a souvenir tin, popcorn, and a medium drink.

AMC Theatres is also running several “Wicked” promotions, including popcorn buckets of their own.
Even more ‘Wicked’
“Wicked” fans eagerly await the movie’s release. Until then, Universal Destinations & Experiences will allow guests on both coasts to embrace the fun. Wicked: The Experience will open at Universal Studios Florida in late October. At Universal Studios Hollywood, two “Wicked”-themed retail locations will also open in late October.
This film, directed by Jon M. Chu, promises to draw crowds and sell plenty of popcorn buckets and other merchandise. Remember, however, that this movie only intends to tell the first part of the “Wicked” narrative. “Wicked: Part Two” comes out in theaters in November 2025. We must wait until then to see the whole story about the misunderstood Elphaba Thropp and her green skin.
