The Wizarding World of Harry Potter x Lug collection is pure theme park magic

A new Wizarding World of Harry Potter bag collection from Orlando-based Lug is on the way. Lug introduced the collaboration during a Build-A-Bag launch event at Universal Islands of Adventure. An after-hours media event took place July 30 at Universal Orlando Resort, to unveil the Wizarding World collection.

Lug continues its expansion into theme park merchandise

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter collaboration arrives during a busy period for Lug. And that is good news for fans of their products, or for those who are getting acquainted with Lug.

The company recently released Peanuts Skeeter Convertible Bags, Coin Pouches and sunglasses at several Six Flags parks. Character designs include Snoopy, Woodstock, Joe Cool, Belle and Charlie Brown.

Knott’s Berry Farm also received its own exclusive Lug collection inspired by Betty Boysen, the character tied to the park’s boysenberry heritage. That release includes a Betty Boysen Skeeter Convertible Bag and matching Coin Pouch. Lug has also announced an upcoming Stranger Things bag for Halloween Horror Nights 2026.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter partnership brings Lug directly into Universal Orlando Resort, close to the company’s Orlando headquarters.

Why Lug bags work well in theme parks

Lug’s appeal extends beyond licensed patterns. Ami and Jason Richter founded the company in 2005 around colorful travel products with an emphasis on function and organization.

I own two Lug Skeeter style bags and several of the company’s travel cases. The pockets and divided compartments help keep small items accessible during a park day, especially a phone, cards, keys, lip balm and earplugs.

Build a bag with practical features

The build-a-bag collection offers four bag styles, including a new sling that proved especially popular with the event crowd. The purchasing experience starts with selecting a bag, an adjustable strap and accessories such as charms and clip-on coin purses.

Each of the four bags has a black quilted base, a gold-embroidered Hogwarts crest, a metal Lug x The Wizarding World of Harry Potter emblem and a front strap for attaching charms. Best of all, every style includes a wand holder, so Hogwarts students can keep their wand at the ready.

House-themed straps include Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, while the charms featured Hogwarts symbols, creatures and house emblems. The bags and accessories were provided during this hosted, gifted experience.

I chose the tote, although I initially questioned whether it would work well in a theme park. Traditional totes sit on the shoulder, can slip easily, and rarely feel truly hands-free. The included strap changed that, and the add-on house-themed strap makes it even better. It adjusts easily and converts the tote into a large crossbody bag that can be worn across the front or back.

The tote also has design details and pockets on both sides, so neither side feels like the “back” of the bag. Its short handles include a non-slip grip for carrying it by hand or over the shoulder. The materials feel durable, the zippers are sturdy and easy to pull, and the organized pockets have protective fabric lining.

The removable accessories add flexibility. I can use my Ravenclaw strap, coin purse, pull tab and charms when I want the full house-pride look, then remove them and switch to the basic black strap for something more understated. I already use one of Lug’s clip-on coin purses with my Skeeter. It holds a few small items within easy reach and transfers to another bag with a quick unclipping.
