On October 16, the luggage cart “trolley” from the Harry Potter movie series was unveiled at Edinburgh Waverley railway station ahead of the November 16 celebration honoring the 20th Anniversary of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film, based on the books by J.K. Rowling.

Fans dressed in wizarding robes and Hogwarts scarves were on hand to see the unveiling, and to recreate the moment when Harry Potter ran through the brick wall at the magical Platform 9 ¾ in Kings Cross Station, pushing what has become the most famous trolley in the world.

Jenna Marshall, age 7, was among those having photos taken with the trolley during its October 16 debut. “Posing with the trolley was just like I was actually going to go to Hogwarts. I felt so excited. It was so realistic!”

Edinburgh Waverley train station is the first stop the Platform 9 ¾ Trolley Tour will make. Participating locations and dates are:

  • Edinburgh Waverley Station – October 16-18
  • Birmingham New Street Station – October 23-25
  • Cardiff Central Station – October 26-28
  • Belfast Lanyon Place Station -October 29-31
  • Dublin Dundrum Town Centre – November 5-7

Fans in Edinburg received a second magical moment when the first 100 visitors were given Lego Harry Potter swag to celebrate the launch.
