Ripley’s Believe It or Not celebrates 10th annual World Sword Swallowers Day

World Sword Swallowers Day
Come see sword swallowers defy death with their amazing feats!

Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditoriums will be the hosts to sword swallowers from all over the world on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 as they celebrate the 10th annual World Sword Swallowers Day.

Having hosted this event for 10 years now, Ripley’s intends to showcase the 4,000-year-old skill and those who risk their lives with the death-defying feat. This event will also recognize the scientific and medical contributions studies of the swallowers have made over history.

“Sword swallowers have been prodded and examined by doctors and scientists in the name of science for the past 150 years, often without being recognized for their contributions,” said Dan Meyer, President, Sword Swallower’s Association International. “We want to change that.”

Here in Orlando, Central Florida’s own resident swallower, Ted Campbell – also known as “Will Rotten” – will demonstrate his skills for the public at the Ripley’s Orlando Odditorium. Also performing will be other local sword swallowers, such as Red Stuart, who will try his luck at swallowing over 50 blades at once.

The show will begin at 1:30 p.m., and the “Big Swallow” performance will be at 2:25 p.m. Ripley’s Believe It or Not! will host these and other swallowers at no cost.
