$10M gravy boat roller coaster is coming to Holiday World

It’s true. A ten-million-dollar gravy-themed coaster called Good Gravy! will be rolling into Holiday World in Santa Claus, Ind., next year.

The new family boomerang roller coaster opening May 2024 in (where else?) Holiday World’s Thanksgiving section will be the first of its kind in North America.

“Since 1946, our family has been dedicated to being the best at family fun,” says the park’s fourth-generation owner Leah Koch-Blumhardt. “We’re excited to add a coaster to our lineup that caters to the entire family, just like Thanksgiving dinner! The experience will be smooth and gentle enough for grandparents and younger children to enjoy, yet it’s still dynamic enough for the thrill seekers.”

Riders (38 inches and taller) will begin the Thanksgiving-themed experience in a queue building themed to Grandma’s house before boarding ride vehicles shaped like giant gravy boats (of course). Once onboard, riders will be pulled backward uphill on cranberry-colored tracks (also, of course) before speeding forward at a maximum speed of 37 miles per hour as they navigate through a giant cranberry jelly can, narrowly avoiding a 20-foot-tall whisk and 18-foot-tall rolling pin before flying up a 77-foot-high spike and repeating the nearly 1,500 feet long journey backward.

Stuffing Springs, a new area surrounding Good Gravy! includes a children’s play area, benches, shade, and a Dippin’ Dots stand in a refurbished 1964 Airstream Camper.

“This coaster might be a little corny, but that’s exactly who we are,” says Koch-Blumhardt. “We’ve always been as cheesy as grandma’s potatoes au gratin. We’re stuffing this ride full of puns and giving families pumpkin new to talk about.”

Construction has already begun on the station and ride footers; the track will arrive in early November.

Holiday World (and Good Gravy!) will open to season passholders on May 4 and 5, 2024, and to the public on May 11, 2024. 2024 Season Passes are on sale now (children born in 2019 and 2020 qualify for a free Pre-K Season Pass). For more information, visit holidayworld.com.
