A SpongeBob SquarePants dark ride is coming to Las Vegas
The family-friendly Circus Circus Resort on the Las Vegas strip has announced a new $6 million SpongeBob SquarePants dark ride will be added to the resort this year.
Created by Sally Dark Rides and inspired by the popular Nickelodeon animated series, the new interactive “SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride” will feature vibrant sets, special effects, animatronics, and integrated projections to submerse guests in the undersea world of SpongeBob and his pals.
“We are thrilled to add the globally-recognized characters of SpongeBob SquarePants to Circus Circus,” said Shana Gerety, the resort’s senior vice president of operations. “Guests from all over the world will love how the over-the-top optimism and humor that SpongeBob SquarePants embodies is integrated in this exciting new attraction.”
Riders seated five per vehicle will be invited by Mr. Krabs to try their luck at his collection of ride-through carnival midway games, but the fun is interrupted when Plankton hatches a plan to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula once and for all.
“We couldn’t be more excited about our collaboration with Circus Circus Las Vegas to bring the first ever interactive SpongeBob SquarePants dark ride to life,” said Paramount SVP of Themed Entertainment Marie Marks.
The new SpongeBob ride is part of a $25 million renovation project underway at Circus Circus. Additional attractions at the resort include The Adventuredome, a Midway with state-of-the-art video games, and the year-round Splash Zone water park featuring two pools, a splash pad filled with water cannons, spill buckets, rain trees, and the fan-favorite 50-foot slide tower featuring the Mat Racer, Aqua Tube, and Speed Slide.
