Review: ‘Agatha All Along’ is what ‘WandaVision’ fans have been waiting for
We got to review the first four episodes of “Agatha All Along,” the “WandaVision” spinoff now streaming on Disney+.

‘Agatha All Along’ is finally here
In the “WandaVision” spinoff “Agatha All Along” on Disney+, the fan favorite villain Agatha Harkness must form her own coven and travel down the witches’ road to regain her powers. We were lucky enough to get an early screening of the first four episodes to review. While the show doesn’t have the same sitcom vibes as its predecessor, it certainly introduces new mysteries that will no doubt spawn countless theories. It’s what “WandaVision” fans have been waiting for all along.

Episode 1 is about Agatha breaking free from the spell that Wanda left her under at the end of “WandaVision,” and in episode 2 we meet the new witches who form the new coven. (Both episodes are out now on Disney+!)
Once on the road (episodes 3 & 4), the coven must face trials suited to each of their specialities … and their personal traumas. Not all of them will make it to the end.
The cast and characters of ‘Agatha All Along’
The cast is stellar, with not only Kathryn Hahn returning as Agatha herself, but many of the residents of Westview briefly returning in the first couple episodes, with a main focus on Debra Jo Rupp’s Sharon Davis (or “Mrs. Hart” as she was called in Wanda’s Hex).

The coven itself starts off as a motley crew, but it’s clear some characters have history, and they’ll grow together in time. Kathryn’s Agatha, Patti Lupone’s Lilia Calderu, Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer Kale, Ali Ahn’s Alice Wu-Gulliver, and Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal are such a fun group. They play off each other so fantastically, and while everyone should be able to have fun figuring out the show’s secrets, it’s clear this show is tailor-made for the girls and the gays.
Who is Joe Locke’s character?
With plenty of mysteries surrounding the characters, the question burning brightest is the identity of Joe Locke’s “Teen.” Someone cast a sigil on him to keep from revealing his true identity or any details about his past. He helps free Agatha from her curse so she’ll to take him down the witches’ road, seemingly to gain power himself. As a huge fan of the Young Avengers comics, I have my own hopes and theories. (What other show would be better to introduce a character called Wiccan, and who better to play him than Joe Locke?) But time will tell, and I can’t wait for more episodes to continue “down, down, down the witches’ road.”

New episodes of “Agatha All Along” drop every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on Disney+, now through Oct. 30, 2024.
