All-Day park hopping returning to Walt Disney World Jan. 9, 2024

A long-awaited change in the Walt Disney World park hopping rules is coming January, with some caveats.

Currently, if you have a Walt Disney World ticket with park hopping added, or you’re an annual passholder, you can hop to, AKA visit, another Disney World theme park, but only after 2 p.m. Starting Jan. 9, 2024, those guests will be free to go back and forth between all four Walt Disney World theme parks anytime of the day, as long as the park isn’t at capacity.

On days where theme park reservations are required, guests will need to visit the theme park they have made the reservation at first, then they are free to park hop as soon as they have entered the park they had the reservation at. But reservations won’t be needed every day for certain ticket holders.

Also starting Jan. 9, 2024, reservations will no longer be required for date-based tickets. Guests with other tickets such as group tickets and convention tickets without set dates will still need to make reservations. You can check which admission types require park reservations by visiting DisneyWorld.com/ThemeParkReservations before you purchase.

With these changes on Jan. 9, 2024, and the parking trams recently returning to all four Disney World parks, things are slowly returning to how they were before the pandemic.

Annual passholder Good-To-Go Days will also start sometime in January. With Good-To-Go Days, the theme park reservation calendar will be updated periodically and will show select days when passholders may visit certain parks without needing a reservation (blockout dates continue to apply). Passholders (and cast members) will still have to make reservations, but only on certain days at certain theme parks.

So annual passholders will be able to visit a park before 2 p.m. without a reservation if it’s a Good-To-Go Day at that park. They can then visit any other park of their choosing. If it’s not a Good-To-Go Day at the park they want to visit, and they don’t have a reservation at that park, they can visit it after 2 p.m. (except Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays), or visit a Good-To-Go park first, then park hop to the park they wanted.

This is a step towards returning full freedom of visits to Walt Disney World theme parks, but still requires times when guests will have to go through the turnstiles of a park they didn’t want to visit, in order to immediately exit to go to the park they wanted depending on Disney’s reservation schedule.

The good news about park hopping also comes with news of annual pass and parking fees increasing. Annual passes have gone up $30 to $50, and parking at the theme parks has increased to $30 per day. Parking continues to be included with annual passes. Day ticket Prices have not increased at Disney World, but they have at Disneyland.
