In celebration of National Pumpkin Day on Oct. 26, 2023, Walt Disney World’s Animal Nutrition Center planned a pumpkin party at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Among the party guests are a group of giant Galapagos tortoises with Halloween-worthy names – Phantom, Dracula, Mummy, Frankenstein, Wolfman, and Creature – so it’s certainly no surprise National Pumpkin Day is among their favorite holidays.
Disney’s animal nutritionists prepare customized diets for more than 5,000 birds, mammals, reptiles, and fish at Walt Disney World every day, but with Halloween right around the corner, they’re getting into the spooky spirit by delivering over200 pumpkins to ensure everyone gets to participate in the National Pumpkin Day fun (some of which may be seen by guests during their visit to Animal Kingdom).
Did You Know?
It’s not only Walt Disney World chefs who use the produce grown inside the Living With the Land attraction. The resort’s animal nutritionists can also request fruits and vegetables from Epcot’s hydroponic greenhouses.
